Fargo’s Sodbuster Sculpture Set to Make a Comeback!

One of Fargo’s most iconic pieces of public art will be making a comeback.

The Sodbuster sculpture, which stood on the corner of Broadway and Main Avenue for almost 20 years will be reinstalled.

Partnering with the city of Fargo, the Great Plains Art Museum was awarded a $143,000 grant to make this project possible.

The conservation process is expected to take up to 3 years.

The city of Fargo says the project was long awaited.

“The first piece of art the city of Fargo ever commissioned back in 1979 so we have a long history f investing in public art. I love the fact that this isn’t a city role right now it’s actually run by the plains art museum, and the city gets to support the ongoing effort,” says Fargo City Commissioner Melissa Sobolik.

The Sodbuster sculpture is scheduled to be reinstalled at the new Fargo City Hall Civic Plaza in 2018.
