Flooding Project Delay in Valley City
Valley City’s flooding project is getting a bit of a push back.
The flood project’s funding comes from the state’s oil which is decreasing due to lower crude oil prices.
This could take an extra 10 to 12 years for the project to be completed.
Phase one of the flood project is expected to be done next summer.
“There’s a need for it but we can only build what we have funding for. Until we have all the funding in place, we’ll be doing emergency flood levies for the during spring of the year,” says KLJ Engineer, Chad Petersen.
The city plans to do sub meetings to meet with locals.
This is to get the public’s input on the flood walls and clay levies option.
