Wizard of Oz Costume Auctioned for More than $1.5 Million

One buyer paid big bucks just to say…there’s no dress like this dress.

“You’re off to see the Wizard!  The wonderful Wizard of Oz!  Who kindly is a whiz of a whiz if ever a whiz there was!”
 
Dorothy’s iconic blue gingham dress sold for more than $1.5 million at an auction house.

It is one of only two costumes worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 classic movie.

The piece even has Garland’s name written on the inside labels and sweat stains around the neck.

In 2014, a buyer bought the cowardly lion costume from the movie for more than $3 million.
