Fargo Fire Department Turning Up the Heat in Kettle Competition

Firefighters are firing up the competition to help the Salvation Army.

As part of a friendly contest between the law enforcement and realtors, each group will try to raise the most money.

Off–duty firefighters are ringing at all kettles in the Red River Valley.

Off duty law enforcement officers will be ringing at various locations on December 15th.

But, they say it’s not about winning and losing.

“The competition really doesn’t matter to me; I just come out here because I like to help the Salvation Army out because they do so much for the public, every year.Plus us.Because every fire, every major scene or whatever we have, they show up to help us out. That’s why we like to give back to them,” says Fargo Firefighter Mark Waller.

The Salvation Army says that each hour of bell ringing raises enough money to provide a needy family with two bags of groceries.
