Connected Puzzles To Educate About North Dakota Counties

There’s a puzzle map to teach students about the 53 North Dakota counties.

Creator Jonathan Melgaard created “Connected Puzzles” to use as an educational tool but with a virtual spin.

Each piece has a QR code that can be scanned on smartphones.

The phone will be directed to a Wikipedia page of the county.

The project is already aligned with fourth grade social studies geography curriculum in North Dakota.

The creator hopes to promote geography literacy.

“You know I don’t want to say that there has been any profound impact just yet. But I’m hoping that over the life of this puzzle, ten or fifteen years that it’ll make a difference in some students across the state,” says Jonathan Melgaard.

Melgaard raised over $45,000 to create enough puzzles for fourth grade classes in North Dakota.

The puzzle is gifted to more than 500 classrooms across the state.
