Law enforcement on both sides of the river responded to calls of early morning gunfire.
One reported shooting turned out to be just a false alarm.
Both calls of shots fired were non–life threatening incidents.
Police arrived at an apartment building located on 3rd Ave. S where they say it appeared two people were handing a gun inside, before accidentally discharging the firearm.
There were no injuries, but police say the second shot fired outside was intentional.
“What appears to have happened outside that the same individual, in an attempt to take the attention away from them and that apartment, went outside and discharged the handgun,” said Lt. Tory Jacobson of Moorhead Police.
Fargo police also responded to an early morning call of gun fire that turned out to be just a false alarm.
Lt. Michael Mitchell of Fargo Police says a neighbor called just after 3 am this morning, for what she thought was possible gun shots fired at an apartment building located at an apartment building on 7th street North.
“She didn’t see anyone shot a gun, and she didn’t see either of the individuals in possession of a fire arm when she standing at the window,” said Lt. Michael Mitchell of Fargo Police.
After determining no shots were fired, police arrested 41–year–old Shannon Clauthier of Moorhead for possession of meth, marijuana and brass knuckles after he had been involved in an altercation at the apartment.
One neighbor we spoke to says he’s relieved it was just a false alarm.
“it’s really good to hear that, that’s not the kind of stuff I want going on here it’s good to know it got solved without really too much incident,” said Noah Enget of Fargo.
Fargo police say a search of the area was also done, and they still found no signs of gunfire.
