NDSU’s quest for five continues.

The Bison earned a fifth consecutive trip to the National Championship game, defeating the Richmond spiders.

It was one of the coldest nights of the season but Bison fans were fired up for Friday’s game against Richmond.

Some fans started arriving hours ago to tailgate.

“The cold doesn’t scare me. I’ve been out in weather like this in years pass with double ear infection and sinus infection. I’m pretty healthy for once so it’s a good day,” says NDSU student, Aryel Smith.

Aryel Smith was the first Bison fan to get in line for tonight’s game.

She planted her tent in front of the Fargodome at seven in the morning.

Smith will have to work two 12 hour shifts this week to make up for missing time to attend the game but says it’s worth it.

“This will be a good game and just the potential that history can be made at every game that we’re at for NDSU, that’s kind of one of those enticing things,” says Smith.

This being the biggest game of the season so far, plenty of other students braved the cold and camped out.

“Student section is first come first serve, general admission. So we want to get some good seats for the action tonight,” says NDSU student Wayne Easten.

Bison pride is still going strong.

Some dedicated fans that have been tailgating for over 15 years shared the key to having a successful tailgate party.

“I’d say the good food and booze,” says Bison fan Todd Peterson.

And there was plenty of both to go around.

This group plans to keep the fun Bison spirit going throughout the game.

But this fan believes that the loud cheering in the stands will help with the Bison win.

“With the twelfth man being the crowd, I think we’ll pull it off tonight fairly well,” says Peterson.
