Twelve Escape House Fire, One Person Injured in North Fargo

One person was hurt in a house fire that broke out this morning in North Fargo.

Fargo fire responded to the call of a basement fire at 1408 5th Street North just after 8 o’clock this morning.

All nine people in the house at the time made it out safely, but one woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns to her face and hands.

Twelve people had been staying at the house.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated but the amount of damage is estimated to be around $70,000.

“Most of the contents in the room are burned up, but there’s going to be smoke damage throughout the whole house considerable fire damage in the basement. It’ll be a while before these people are going to be able to get back into their home,” said Battalion Fire Chief Bruce Anderson.
 
The Red Cross is helping with housing.

A family member wrote on Facebook that the family lost everything and is in serious need of clothing for six girls, sizes extra small to extra large and 5 males sizes 8 child to adult large.
