Shoe Donation Helps CCRI Make Fargo Marathon Goals

Santa showed up a little early for those at Creative Care for Reaching Independence in Moorhead.

“Thanks for getting us a new pair of shoes.”

Fargo Running Company donated more than 60 pairs of running shoes to people with disabilities that are supported by the center.

The company donates the shoes to people from the center that have run or hope to run the Fargo Marathon.

Last year, the center had more than 70 people who participated in the 5k.

Organizers say whether they run, walk or wheel across the finish line the donation means a lot.

“Looking at each individual as they’re trying to fit their feet with orthotics, and different things into their shoes they’re very grateful, and shoes don’t last as long when they have braces, and different things in them so it’s a wonderful gift,” said CCRI Developmental Director Jody Hudson.

The center has set a goal to have at least 90 people participate in next year’s Fargo Marathon.
