Parents Welcome a Christmas Bundle of Joy
For one family the best Christmas gift wasn’t under the tree this morning, but in their arms.
The Gelinas family says welcoming their newborn baby girl was the best Christmas gift Santa could bring.
Opening her eyes for the first time at 12:07 this morning, at 6lbs 11oz, Calliope Gelinas was Sanford Hospital’s first Christmas baby to be born.
First time parents Danielle and Jason of Pearly Minnesota say having to rush Danielle to the hospital just before Christmas Eve dinner was served is a moment they will never forget.
“I was texting from my phone and eating the little bit of ham and mashed potatoes in a bowl, because I was like I used need stamina,” said Kelli Curran, Danielle Calliope’s mom.
Danielle’s due date was originally set for December 29th. She says welcoming her baby girl on Christmas was truly more than she could ever ask for.
“To me it was just a really good sign that there’s something up there, and watching down and giving us all like blessing to me it was very special,’ said Danielle.
Calliope’s birth has brought lots of first for the family.
“Not just that she had her on Christmas, but it’s my first child having a child,” said Curran.
Looking ahead, Jason and Danielle say they are already planning for the future.
“We are going to get ready to work on getting a little brother or sister for her,” said Danielle.
