Minnesota Insurance Law Changes Effective January First
The New Year brings in a new law that could make driving safer in Minnesota.
As of January 1st, all drivers in Minnesota will have to show proof of insurance when registering a car, motorcycle, or to renew license tags.
The new law is an effort to cut down the number of uninsured drivers.
One driver we caught up with says the new law will make getting into an accident or crash less of a headache.
“If you get into a crash it’s good to have everyone having insurance it makes sense, and I guess that’s the easiest way to make sure everyone has their insurance with them actually have insurance. I think it will be a good law to have,” said Jesse Kipp of Moorhead.
Previously, drivers just had to check a box on a form to claim they had auto insurance.
