International Girls’ Hockey Tournament Comes To Fargo

Girls from around the region and across the border are in Fargo competing to be the best on the ice.

Scheel’s Girls’ International Hockey Tournament runs this weekend.

64 teams from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Canada are all in town competing in four divisions.

Hundreds of girls are utilizing nine ice arenas throughout Fargo-Moohead.

Organizers say there has been a lot of traction with girl hockey over the past few years.

“Well girls hockey is very popular. I think it’s just fair that if we do it for the boys we do it for the girls as well. As you can see it’s working really well for us,” says Fargo Youth Hockey Tournament Director Sommer Lockhart.

The tournament wraps up tomorrow.
