Harwood Hit with More than a Foot of Snow
People across the metro woke up to more snow than expected this morning.
Last night’s winter storm left heavy snow amounts across the area, and for one town just over a foot of snow.
The town of Harwood was one of the areas that was hit the hardest by last night’s storm, receiving up to 13 inches of snow.
Public Works officials in Harwood have been up to their knees literally, battling last nights continued snowfall.
“I looked outside and said no way, opened the door it was up to my knees, and I thought well I know the chihuahua isn’t going out for a while, it’s time to go to work,” said Todd Lang Of Harwood Public Works.
Lang says crews were out as early as 2am, after what they thought would be just four to five inches of snow turned into 13.
Residents in Harwood say to keep up with the snowfall they have had to shovel up to two to three times.
Blaine Clark of Harwood says he has already spent up to two and half hours out of his day just on clean up.
“This will be the second time I’ve had to clean both my driveway, and the neighbor’s so looking forward to moving more snow today,” said Blaine Clark of Harwood.
But some people don’t seem to mind.
“It’s a beautiful day,” said Gary.
Gary Ohnastad of Harwood says snow plowing isn’t much of a chore.
“This is my third time this morning, and hopefully the last time for a while, but it goes fast,” said Gary.
He says it’s actually a nice way to get a little exercise in.
“It wasn’t what I planned on doing today, but we haven’t done it for three years so it’s alright. It’s good exercise,” said Gary.
As of this afternoon, West Fargo and Moorhead received up to six inches of snow and Fargo had more than three.
