Bold Armed Robber Holds Up Bank Next to Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office

The town of Rothsay is on alert after an armed robbery at Farmer’s State Bank.
 
Authorities from multiple agencies responded this afternoon.

The Wilkin County Sheriff’s office got the call just before 1:30 and they didn’t have to go far.
 
Farmers State Bank is located right next door to the sheriff’s office.

They say the suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded money from the teller before getting away in an unknown vehicle.

The sheriff’s office has released photos of the suspect who is described as a white male wearing a black mask, all black clothing and a colored vest.

They are asking for help from the community to track down the suspect.

“We’re not sure how much money has been taken as of yet. We do have good video footage of the suspect, and what he was wearing, and that was sent to all the local media hoping for some tips from the public,” said Sheriff Rick Fiedler of Wilkin County.

Rothsay High school was put on lockdown shortly after the sheriff’s office got the call.

That lockdown was lifted once the area was deemed secure.
