Sex Trafficking Survivor Launches Organization to Support Victims
One sex trafficking survivor has turned tragedy into triumph by launching a new organization to help support other victims.
Danielle John of Fargo spent five years of her life in the sex trade industry.
Bringing light to her once dark past, she has announced the start-up of “The Next Step ND”
The Next Step ND is an organization that will help survivors get back on their feet financially, and will offer mentorship as they integrate back into the community.
Students, staff and community members filled the seats at NDSU’s Reinke Fine Arts Center as Danielle announced the big launch.
“It’s just to start somewhere we have to start, and if we can continue with this and get different companies and other agencies involved. So that we can support them, and then hopefully we can keep girls, men, women from returning back to that life,” said Danielle.
She says the launching the organization is just the first step.
“It’s really wonderful to work with Danielle going from survivor to survivor leader. It’s a wonderful experience and the team of people who are like minded. People wanting to help our community is beautiful,” said Danny Luecke Director The Next Step N.D.
The Next Step ND website is officially up and running, and accepting donations.
