They say if you see any smoke or grease start to boil, turn off the burner.
When it comes to preventing a kitchen fire, the best tip is to stay in the kitchen while you’re cooking.
“Your cooking something if you go do something else its slips your mind, and then unfortunately you remember when the smokes coming out of the kitchen. So just stay in the kitchen when your cooking, set timers if you have to if you’re leaving, or just turn off the burner when you got to go,” said Ryan Erickson Fargo Fire Marshall.
Erickson says cooking mishaps are one of the leading causes of fires in the area.
