Taking a Trip? Think Wahpeton!
The Wahpeton Convention and Visitors Bureau has approved revamping the city’s website.
It’s a part of a plan to attract more visitors to the city over the upcoming year.
By making an investment in their website, the Convention and Visitors Bureau is hoping the city of Wahpeton will be more visible and appealing to potential tourists.
“We just recently signed a contract with a media outfit to boost our search engine (with) more keywords so that when people look for tourism and attractions in the Wahpeton area that we come to the top,” said Jane Priebe, Wahpeton’s Economic Development Director.
The campaign hopes to increase the number of overnight stays by highlighting all the attractions Wahpeton has to offer, including the zoo.
“Well, the Chahinkapa Zoo is a big part of Wahpeton’s tourism. Our city of course – the population of our city compared to our visitation – we welcomed over 68,000 visitors annually and we’re hoping to make that 70,000 in 2016,” said Chahinkapa Zoo Director Kathy Diekman.
And it’s not just the zoo that draws people in. Wahpeton has much more to offer.
“…the Bois Du Sioux golf Course, the Red Door Art Gallery, and the other tourist attractions like that, so we want people to plan ahead,” said Priebe.
And just like where the Red River of the North begins, the Visitors Bureau hopes your next family adventure awaits here in the city of Wahpeton.
