High school students from all over the region, performed in front of two nationally acclaimed jazz musicians.
9 different high schools, including Fort Richmond from Winnipeg, got jazzy for professional musicians.
Award winning trombonist Nick Finzer and drummer Steve Jennings judge the performances.
They held master classes to teach the young musicians a thing or two.
Together Finzer and Jennings performed at the jazz concert to show how it’s really done.
“It’s very important because everyone has to have something to shoot for. These students that come in, it’s something to hear on a recording and another to be able to interact with that person and hear them live and get their comments right away when they actually means something,” says NDSU Director Jazz Studies Dr. Kyle Mack.
Nearly 200 students participated in this year’s 34th Annual High School Invitational Jazz Fest.
