Concordia Band Finishes February Tour with a Bang

After an eight day tour across the Midwest, the Concordia Concert Band finishes its February tour with a bang.

The band, made up of 71 student musicians, put on their final performance at Concordia to wrap up its Midwest tour.

During the tour, band members worked with public schools to support their music programs.

One third of the campus community at Concordia participates in music. But many of those students major in an unrelated field.

“So they’re going to go off into healthcare administration, physics, math, graduate school. They’re going to change the world in their own ways and they’re just going to take these musical experiences that makes them a whole person into the whole world and make them better citizens and hopefully of course continue playing music as adults,” says Director of Bands, Dr. Peter Haberman.

The band rehearses six hours a week but most of the students also take private lessons.

The band tours regionally each winter.
