RRV Water Rescue Gets Birdseye View in Search Efforts

Emergency responders in Minnesota have welcomed a new addition.

The West Central EMS Association purchased three drones that will assist with search and rescue efforts.

Each drone cost around $12,000.

One drone will be housed by the Red River Water Rescue team.

The other two will be given to officials in Ottertail and Becker counties.

“When we’re searching just one area we don’t know what’s going on down there. There’s open ice over there that become evident later. This will give us the ability to get on a birds eye view of exactly what’s going on, and maybe getting a better idea and a better starting point,” said Bryan Page of the Red River Valley Water Rescue Team.

The association was able to purchase the drones using money collected from seat belt citations
