UPDATE: Standoff Ends And Man Involved Dies Of Apparent Gunshot Wound

A standoff in North Fargo ended just before 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

The man involved in the standoff is dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Police aren’t sure if the suspect was hit by officer gunfire or if he shot himself.

Fargo Police Chief Dave Todd says an officer did exchange in gunfire with the suspect and that the suspect appeared to be targeting police.

Todd also announced that officer Jason Moszer will not survive from gunshot injuries he suffered during the standoff.

Todd says Moszer did not respond when dispatchers did a status check of the officers.

They had answered the call at 308 9th Ave. N. at 7pm Wednesday.

Todd said a resident saw an officer on the ground near his squad car in an alley.

It was Moszer who was taken to Sanford Medical Center.

Todd said he contacted the officer’s wife and drove her to the hospital where family gathered to say goodbye.

Todd says the BCI and Cass County Sheriff’s Office will take over the investigation.

The crime scene is expansive so Chief Todd is asking for the public’s cooperation in avoiding that area if possible and taking direction from police.

Police have not identified the suspect at this time.
