He Served His Country, Now He Wants to Serve You: Iraq Veteran Opens Moorhead Business

After serving his country, a local war veteran finds a new profession back home.

Captain Jason Hearn is washing out his past and freshening up his life with his own laundry service.

“I’ve been shot once and blown up 8 times,” says Hearn.

Hearn served 11 years in the Army.

Four of those years, he was Captain.

During his last tour in Iraq, he was shot after being ambushed in a village.

It earned him a Purple Heart.

After serving his time in a combat zone, he felt he needed a fresh start.

Hearn explains, “It was time to slow down. I just didn’t think I could maintain that pace for another 15-20 years.”

Going from doing two tours in Iraq to coming back to Moorhead has been a big change.

But being his own boss has been a lifelong dream.

“We wanted to be entrepreneurs. It’s just figuring and finding what niche you could fulfill,” says Hearn.

When he says we, he’s talking about his wife, Emily.

They’re on this journey together, providing professional laundry service to the Metro area.

“I think it’s the trying. Taking that risk. That’s what exciting about it. That’s what I always wanted to try,” says Hearn.

The trying seems to be working.

Investing in only top quality products, they plan on only providing with the best.

With getting publicity through social media and word of mouth, customers who stop by, are satisfied with the service.

“I only get so many days off a week so I don’t want to spend that whole day doing laundry. So it’s nice I can drop off a bag and not worry about it,” says customer, Chad Lawrence of Fargo.

Jason and his wife Emily are living the dream, one laundry load at a time.
