Veterans Affairs Town Hall Meeting

Veterans want their benefits, but many don’t even know they have them.

North Dakota Veterans Affair Commissioner is visiting cities across the state to let them know there is help available.

The Town Hall meeting mainly addressed some of the barriers for veterans to get an education.

While the VA doesn’t have the budget to contact each vet, they’re taking a different approach.

“I’m thinking that social media is probably going to be our best route to get a hold of them by having someone on each campus that can provide posters and do some social media with veterans as they register to say hey did you know which is the big thing did you know you’re eligible for this,” says Veterans Affairs Commissioner, Lonnie Wangen.

Wangen says while he was happy with the turnout from veterans, he hopes to hear from more student vets.

He urges students to reach out to the Veterans Affairs Office to find out what benefits are available for them.
