Hope Inc. is back with a new event for those with mobility challenges.
The group offers participants a chance to sprint their way to the finish line, any way they want.
Hope Inc. hosts its first indoor track meet to give everyone an opportunity to race.
Hope Inc. Executive Director Adair Grommesh says, “All these kids have the same hopes and dreams. They want to be able to participate and win medals. This is the perfect example that they can compete against people of likability.”
This also gives families a chance to bond and cheer for their kid.
“We have events that get put on like this and he can do whatever he wants. He can participate, he can exercise, burn some energy before we get home,” says Tyler Wytel of West Fargo.
Chloe Kirkpatrick from Bemidji, is giving her competitors a run for their money.
For many this is all fun and games but for Chloe she’s got her eyes on the prize.
“She is an athlete. Time and time again now, she has proven herself an athlete,” says Chloe’s mother Bradi Kirkpatrick.
To Chloe’s friends and classmates, Bradi adds, “They see her as somebody who plays hockey. They see her as somebody who goes skiing. They don’t see the wheel chair, so that’s important to her.”
Chloe is taking three medals home today.
She says the key to winning is, “having fun.”
The winner isn’t always the fastest; it’s sometimes the one who refuses to lose.
Over 40 contenders participated, making it the largest track meet Hope Inc. has ever hosted.
