Celebrating Cultures that Call Fargo Moorhead Home
People from all over the world call the FM area home, and Rourke Museum wants to celebrate that.
Ethnic foods, dances and singing filled the Rourke this afternoon as families from across the metro celebrated International Mother Tounge Day.
The day is meant to recognize the importance of language and many were eager to share their native language through different poems and songs.
“Whether they were refugees that have now immigrated here or they just decided that Fargo Moorhead was an awesome collaborative environment that they wanted to build their family and call home so we really wanted to celebrate that,” says Rourke Event Coordinator, Jodi Regan.
Korean, Thai and Mexican were just some of the dishes offered.
International Mother Language was proclaimed by UNESCO back in 1999.
