Grand Forks North End Apartments Raise Neighborhood Concerns

A four story apartment complex is getting closer to being built in Grand Forks.

Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission gave preliminary approval to rezone a commercial plot of land to an apartment complex in the north end.

The complex will be a four-story, 70-unit apartment next to the Red River.

Some neighbors have expressed their concerns about the project’s size not fitting in with the surrounding area.

But the planning department believes that this is a much needed addition to the city.

“Over the course of the past, at least five years, if not longer, we’ve had somewhat of a surge in apartment construction. There seems to be still a fairly confident market for apartments because we continue to see more,” says Grand Forks Planning & Community Development Brad Gengler.

Neighbors have until April 6th to express their concerns at the final public hearing.
