Johnson Named Finalist for Mike Richter Award
North Dakota may have another major award winner in men’s hockey. Sophomore goaltender Cam Johnson was named a finalist for the Mike Richter award on Wednesday, given annually to the nation’s best goalie in D1 hockey. Former UND goalie Zane McIntyre won the award last season.
Johnson has had an excellent year, leading UND to 30 wins and the number one seed in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff this weekend.
Johnson leads the nation outright with a 1.58 goals against average. He’s also tied for the lead in save percentage at .938. He won the NCHC’s Goaltender of the Week six times this year, and is also a finalist for the NCHC Goaltender of the Year.
