Beloved MSUM Iguana Will Always Be Remembered

The unofficial mascot and beloved iguana at MSUM passed away.

Curie, the iguana was donated to the college back in 2010.

Students would often see him go on walks around campus and relish in the sun.

He was a popular attraction for school tours and outreach events.

“The iguana is always a big hit because it’s an animal you can take outand pass it around to everybody. Curie was a good iguana. Curie will be missed very much,” says MSUM lab specialist Todd Nolte.

Curie lived up to 12 years, which is the average lifespan for iguanas.

The Bioscience Department is looking to rescue a new iguana to replace Curie.
