Kennedy Elementary Up Close and Personal with Severe Weather
With severe weather season just around the corner, it’s back to weather school for our very own meteorologist.
Rob Kupec, along with an NDSU Climatologist Adnan Akyuz, introduced students at Kennedy Elementary School to severe weather season.
The pair used some clever tricks to show just how the atmosphere works, like sucking an egg into a bottle.
Kids also examined the properties of a tornado thanks to another handy model, this time involving dry ice.
“And watch what’s going to happen here. Do you see it starting to rotate? Here it is, there is the tornado!” Rob exclaims.
Kids made sure to wear their helmets during the talk.
It’s encouraged to wear helmets during tornadoes to protect your head from flying debris.
