Students Study Downtown Fargo’s Living History

Eighth graders are working to uncover the history behind many famous Fargo buildings.

Students at Ben Franklin Middle School are researching how downtown properties have changed over time.

Kids are doing online research, interviewing people, and shooting video, they sound like journalists, and they’ll make a final report about their chosen buildings.

Kids say they’re having fun peeling the layers of history off of city buildings.

“I think it’s kind of fun,” says student Mitchell Dummer. “It’s kind of interesting to, what it was before what it was today.”

Student Issac Gabbert adds, “They like redo old buildings and make them like new on the inside but keeping the historic effect.”

The finished reports will be available at the building of study via a QR code.
Kids will present their stories April 21st at the Fargo Theatre.
