North Dakota GOP Convention Is Here

It’s the road to the White House, with a quick stop in the Peace Garden State.

This is a huge convention for the Republican Party, but how will the North Dakota GOP Convention make a difference in this race?

It’s a Republican race like we’ve never seen before, and it’s here in North Dakota.

“It’s going to be a fantastic three days for the Republican Party,” says North Dakota GOP Chairman Kelly Armstrong.

Energy will run high with both the contested race for governor and the GOP candidates in the house.

Senator Ted Cruz will be speaking Saturday night, and Donald Trump is sending rival turned endorser, Doctor Ben Carson, to speak on his behalf Sunday morning.

“We’ve been working with the Trump campaign for almost a month now, and they’ve been very great to work with, but at the end of the day, you know these guys are traveling all over the country as well. They’re sending Doctor Ben Carson and we are absolutely fired up to have him here,” says Armstrong.

Out of the 1,700 delegates attending, 25 will be chosen for the national convention in Cleveland.

These delegates are free agents and not required to state which candidate they support.

Campaign members are still rallying in Fargo in place of contenders that could not make it.

A candidate that has been overshadowed by the drama is Ohio Governor John Kasich.

“He’s not going to take the low road to the highest office. And I think that’s something that we should all appreciate and kind of realize that we are electing a president. We’re not watching a reality show.  We are electing the next president of the United States,” says senior aide to Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Merle Madrid.

Kasich is still in the spotlight but under a very dim one.

But like the other GOP campaign, his is raising as much awareness to ensure the next President in office is a Republican.

Madrid adds, “Our focus is just a remind folks that when you look at the polls and if we want to beat Hillary Clinton in November, John Kasich is the republican candidate who gives us the best chance to do that.”

The convention will decide Sunday on the 25 delegates, which could be a hot commodity during a likely tight race at Republican National Convention in July.
