Clay County K9 Deekon Sports New Uniform
Clay County’s favorite deputy is sporting a new kind of uniform.
K-9 Deekon is getting used to his new bullet and stab protective vest, thanks to a charitable donation from the group, Vested Interest.
Vested Interest is a non-profit whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests for law enforcement dogs.
“Deekon’s job is inherently dangerous. He goes places that we don’t want to send another deputy just to have that added protection for him is a peace of mind for me a little bit being the amount of time that me and Deekon spend together on training and doing all of our deployments,” said Deputy Corby Nelson of the Clay County K-9 Division.
The vest is only six pounds, but costs around $1500.
The vest is sponsored by the Van Sloun Foundation and the Lass Family Farm.
