Brewing Up a Celebration: Local Breweries Honor National Beer Day

Grab a cold one and celebrate.

April 7th is National Beer Day.

On this date in 1933, prohibition officially ended, allowing beer to legally be sold in the U.S. after 13 years.

Local breweries are brewing up some fun to celebrate.

Drekker Brewing is bringing back the popular Drive-By Glitter Bomb beer.

Junkyard Brewery in Moorhead is releasing a porter called Royal Treat.

An archivist from the Historical Society of Clay County also gave a talk about how prohibition affected the valley.

“Everyone likes beer, and I think craft beer is this new kind of local thing that’s going on, and everybody likes local, right? And we’re supporting our own community,” says David Juhnke with Junkyard Brewing.

Local beer is exploding in popularity.

There are more than 3,400 small brewers operating in the U.S.
