Democratic Candidate for Governor: Marvin Nelson

Democratic State Representative Marvin Nelson shares with us why he thinks he’s the best candidate for North Dakota governor.

If elected, Nelson plans to revamp the state’s workforce safety & insurance.

He says he’ll also tackle diversifying the economy and the state budget.

It’s been 24 years since North Dakota has had a democratic governor but Nelson believes it’s time for a change.

“I don’t think our priority has been right as a state. We really run the state literally as if it has been a republican place for its entire history. We run it as if we’re poor. And what poor people do, poor people buy furniture and then they buy their furniture again and then they buy their furniture again, because they don’t get good quality. But they’re always buying because they don’t have the money to spend. And that’s the mean jerk response of the republicans, is to never invest in this state,” says Nelson.

After the Republican primary in June, Nelson will face either Attorney General Wayne Stenhjem or Businessman Doug Burgum in the general election this November.
