Urgent! Foreigner and Hawley High School Students Take Fargo by Storm; Raise Money for School Music Programs

Singers from Hawley High School help out a world-famous rock band playing in Fargo, in return for an unforgettable experience.

The students auditioned and won a contest for the chance to get on stage and help Foreigner sing one of their best love rock ballads “I Want to Know What Love Is”.

Foreigner works with a program called the Grammy Foundation.

The organization helps create opportunities for high school students to work with music professionals and also raises money for school music programs.

Often times, the arts get put on the chopping block when schools are facing a financial crisis and the Grammy Foundation helps keep those programs running by offering funds and scholarships.

The Hawly High School Pop Singers, who were selected out of a pile of auditions, helped out Foreigner and the organization by selling ‘band swag’ or merchandise.

The proceeds go towards the Grammy Foundation’s mission.

Foreigner’s bassist, Jeff Pilson, tells KVRR’s Adam Ladwig the band has been participating in the program since 2011 and it is part of Foreigner’s commitment to helping with music education in schools across the country.

“It’s a trip,” he says.  “Watching these people do it…it’s amazing.”  He says the group of kids are “…really great to watch. It’s so much fun. The energy is ridiculous.”

We put together a short video highlighting several moments of the big night for the Hawley High School Pop Singers.
