City of Fargo Approves Tax Breaks for Downtown High Rise Project
The City of Fargo is one step closer in starting the construction of downtown’s newest high rise.
The Fargo Renaissance Zone Authority has approved requested tax exemptions that will help build the Block 9 High Rise at 200 Broadway in downtown Fargo.
Along with the high rise, the project also includes an additional parking garage, and event plaza.
The Kilbourne Group, TMI hospitality and the RDO Company of Fargo will be partnering with the city helping to pay for the $95 million project cost.
“They’ll be getting a tax exemption, but in return they’ll be putting those tax exemptions back into the parking garage, and the plaza. They’re paying 4-5 million for the plaza that will at no cost to the tax payer,” said Fargo City Planning Director Jim Gilmour.
Construction for the 16 story building is expected to begin this fall, and be completed by spring of 2019.
