Marcus Theatres Brings “Purple Rain” Back to the Big Screen
In light of the tragic death of music icon Prince, Marcus Theatres is bringing back “Purple Rain”
The cinema chain is hosting $5 tribute showings at select theaters nationwide.
The seven o’clock showing of the film was pretty much a sold out show.
Purple Rain movie-goers were all out for different reasons, but mostly to pay tribute.
Purple Rain is back!
Marcus Theatres held its first showing of the classic film, and move-goers say it’s their way of honoring the iconic legend.
“Definitely, Prince was a very influential singer, and this is a great way to pay tribute to him,” said Ross Wicklund.
John Pike, who was a college radio DJ back in the 80’s, says he came out to rekindle his musical passion
“I haven’t seen this movie in probably a decade at least,” said John Pike.
But he says not so much for the movie itself.
“The performances in the movie Morris Day, Prince you know, they’re spectacular,” said Pike.
Others even showed up dressed all in purple.
“Not really I’ve been wearing purple every day since Thursday actually so this is just a continuance,” said Ron Brandt.
All to honor the legend whose music has helped them through some of the hardest times.
“This is a small way for me in a sense to thank him, make a tribute to him for what he contributed to me,” said Brandt.
West Acres Cinema will be hosting limited showings of the film through Thursday.
