Metro Continues to Build on Construction Boom

With a growth in housing also comes a growth in business.

From contractors to construction companies to local businesses, it’s not a secret the metro is still booming.

One local construction company is even expecting its busiest year yet.

Kim Krueger Tehan has grown up around construction all of her life.

Her family owns Krueger Construction, and with each year it seems to get busier and busier.

“I think right now just everyone is really busy that’s kind of the general feeling as we we’re finishing off this parade model. A lot of the contractors that were doing touch ups were just saying we’re kind of fueled on caffeine right now,” says Marketing Director at Krueger Construction, Kim Krueger Tehan.

Krueger says her family’s company usually does about 25 to 30 homes in a year.

This year they’re on track to do 40.

“We are geared up for what will likely be our busiest year going into this build season,” says Krueger Tehan.

But it’s not just houses popping up, permits across the board are on the rise.

Between January and April in 2015, Fargo’s total value of permits was around $78 million.

It’s already at $106 million this year.

“Just in West Fargo last year they’ve issued three commercial permits this time around we’re not even half way through the year and they’ve already issued 8 permits.”

Brittany Boeddeker is the manager of Beans Coffee Bar on South University Drive.

The shop just opened at the beginning of the month in the old A&W location.

“I think just with the growth in town here everyone’s super busy but it’s never done as fast as you want it to just because you want to be open and serving your customers,” says Beans Coffee Car Manager, Brittany Boeddeker.

And while the metro continues to grow, when it comes to construction, there is one factor that only Mother Nature can control.

“If it rains for a month or the frost isn’t out of the ground that’s going to delay the construction process all together,” says Krueger Tehan.

But whether the summer holds rain or shine, as for now laborers will continue to drink that caffeine.

Kreuger construction is gearing up for this week’s Parade of Homes.

It will feature 99 homes, the third highest number of homes ever.
