A Popular Minnesota Brewery Heads West

A popular Minnesota brewery is heading west.

The Twin Cities-based craft brewery, Surly Brewing Company, will start distributing in North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska.

The brewery started back in 2004 when a home brewer converted his parents’ factory into a brewery.

Since then it has garnered attention from craft beer fans across the Midwest.

“They’re going to have a light lager, they’re going to have everywhere from a west coast IPA so it’s good to have different varieties and when you’re actually drinking local that’s even better,” says JL Beer’s Bar Supervisor, Trinity Grubich.

Surly will be organizing month long “invasions” across the state, starting Monday at JL Beers in West Fargo.

They’re tapping all six of their Surlys and will have giveaways for everyone at the bar.
