Victim Identified in Wahpeton Drowning

We now know the name of the young man who died swimming in the Red River in Wahpeton.

The victim is identified as 20–year–old David Leinen of Selfridge, ND.

He was a student at the North Dakota State College of Science.

According to police, four people were swimming in the river near the Chahinkapa Zoo. Police were called around 6:15 p.m. Friday.

Leinen’s body was recovered at 8:35 p.m.

An autopsy has been ordered.
