Progress on New Parking Structure
Work is progressing on the Kilbourne Group’s latest project: a parking ramp and apartment building.
Construction started just last month at Second Ave N. and Roberts St.
Phase one of the parking structure is set to be finished in March opening 455 new parking stalls.
“There was a parking study completed by the city of Fargo and this was recognized as a key location and this mix use parking structure will provide for that parking need.” says Mike Allmendinger, General Manager of Kilbourne Group.
The structure will also include apartments and shops with the parking lot in the middle.
The complete project will be done in 2019.
Factors that could delay construction such has bad weather has been accounted for.
The city has been working with commissioners to create something that continues to cater to the people of the metro.
“I think we’re continuing to grow, we’re looking at other spots for maybe a second ramp. That’s why we have the city commission, the parking commission, we’re looking forward to expanding,” says Derrick LaPoint, Fargo City Planning.
Most of the parking stalls are expected to be reserved by companies downtown.
Spots open to the public will have an hourly rate and on weekends they will be free.
