Discovery Middle School Students Celebrate End Of School Year

Summer is right around the corner.

In fact, for Fargo students, it starts today.

Marisa Opdahl is finishing up 8th grade, so you know what that means.

High school in the fall.

Her thoughts on the matter?

Opdahl says, “It seems to complicated, and I don’t want to have my locker next to my brother.”

Sure that’s a good enough reason why to dislike the transition, but what, no brotherly love?

Opdahl says, “No, my brothers mean!”

Even if she doesn’t want to be near her brother, she’s one of the students graduating from Discovery Middle School, and heading to the big leagues, Davies High School.

Rock Climbing, volleyball, basketball, what else could you want for an end of the year celebration?

But for one student she celebrated a different way.

Hannah Karschenmann was born with a birth defect that needs extensive surgery.

But that doesn’t get her down.

This 8th grader came to the MUSM Wellness Center to color with friends and say goodbye to her classmates.

What will she miss the most?

Kerschenmann says, “All the teachers, and the friendships I’ve made with younger students, and all my teachers are really understanding.”

In just a few short months it’ll be a whole new school.

And sure, she’s nervous.

Kerschenmann says, “Mostly because it’s really big, and there’s a lot of people, and stuff, and being a freshman is kinda scary sometimes.”

But now is the time to relax, before facing her next challenge in the fall.

Here’s to hoping students enjoy the summer as much as they can.

The fall semester starts just 90 days from today.
