Man Crashes Stolen Vehicle Into Sheyenne River

A high speed chase stretching from Fargo to Harwood ends up with one man behind bars, and a stolen vehicle in the Sheyenne River.

Thirty-four–year–old Aaron Anderson crashed a vehicle through the fence in a cemetery in Harwood, driving through rough terrain before going into the river.

The chase started around 10 am, when West Fargo police got reports of an erratic driver.

Fargo police later found Anderson and tried to pull him over, but he fled.

During the chase he flipped his car over, escaped, and stole a truck from a construction site.

He then led police to Harwood before going in the river.

After that he swam to the other side and tried running on foot before he was tased and apprehended.

“I don’t know what the individual’s intentions were, but he ultimately fled from an officer who was attempting a traffic stop,” says West Fargo Police Officer Pete Nielsen.

Anderson was medically cleared before being sent to jail.

He faces charges of reckless endangerment, theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing in a vehicle and fleeing on foot.
