Moorhead Standoff Suspects Facing Felony Charges
The attempted arrest of a man with a felony warrant set off a standoff in a south Moorhead neighborhood that has been resolved peacefully.
Police set up a perimeter around the 1900th block of 6th Street South around 3 o’clock.
That’s where a man barricaded himself and 4 others in a house for more than 3 hours.
One of the suspects was being arrested for a felony by the Street Crimes Unit when he fled on foot and locked himself inside of the house.
He then warned officials that he had a gun.
The SWAT team and negotiators were brought in and the five people inside gave themselves up around 6 o’clock.
“They were contacted a number of times, even family members reaching out to them through law enforcement here, but ultimately they agreed to come out and were then taken into custody,” said Lt. Tory Jacobson of the Moorhead Police Department.
Officials say the suspects face felony level charges at this time.

It all started near Concordia College before 3 o’clock this afternoon.
I’m here at the scene police have a perimeter set up around the house where it seems that a man has barricaded himself for the past few hours.
The individual was being arrested for a felony when he then fled on foot and locked himself inside of the house.
He then warned officials around 3:00 pm that he had a gun and he would use it.
“Several individuals ran on foot into this residence when our Street Crimes Unit were attempting to take them into custody for a felony warrant,” said Lt. Tory Jacobson with the Moorhead Police Department. “There was a verbal exchange where a suspect said that he has access to a firearm in the residence and he would use it.”
Just after 4:30 pm the Red River Swat Team showed up to the location.
At this time Police want to warn the community that because it is Halloween, to stay away from trick or treating on this block.
They are also currently working on negotiations with the suspect from inside of the house, to get him to remove himself safely.
