Remembering WWII: Monument Moved to Lindenwood Park

An almost 30-year-old World War II monument was moved this morning from downtown Fargo to Lindenwood Park.

It represents the outstanding heroes and service members of the 164th Infantry.

This move comes after American Legion Post 2 announced its moving out of the downtown location.

The legion wanted to put the monument in a better place where more people can see and enjoy it.

“It’s a beautiful place and there’s a lot of people coming through this area,” said Post Commander Christopher Hanson. “And I think that World War II, having been so long ago, this is a perfect place for them to come and see it, and be reminded of what our service members have done for us.”

The monument was first dedicated on October 24th, 1987.
