New American Community Remains Hopeful in Anticipation of the Trump Presidency
One of President–elect Donald Trump’s campaign promises is to deny entry to new Muslim immigrants to the United States.
The New American community in the F–M area reacted to the Trump election in stride.
Community leaders were disappointed by the results of the election but are also hopeful that they will be allowed to live in their new home in peace.
“So we should accept that Trump is the next president of this country, and we should think of how best we can approach this,” said Abdi Osman, who is the Program Manager at the Afro American Development Associaiton. “Let’s not rely on what the media is saying against the person. Let’s look and see what he’s going to do with this country, and I think there’s nothing that’s going to change with the country in the first 100 days.”
Abdi also says that accepting disappointment is the first step in moving on.
