U of M Suspends 10 Players of Gophers Football Team

The University of Minnesota Minneapolis is suspending 10 football players, but won’t give a specific reason as to why.

Those players suspended include redshirt freshman Ray Buford and freshman Antoine Winfield Jr.

The other players are Carlton Djam, Seth Green, KiAnte Hardin, Dior Johnson, Tamarion Johnson, Kobe McCrary, Antonio Shenault and Mark Williams.

The university says they will not release any more information at this time, explaining it is due to student privacy restrictions.

Hardin, Tamarion Johnson, Dior Johnson, Djam and Buford were suspended earlier in the season after a woman filed restraining orders against them for alleged sex assaults.

Those restraining orders were eventually dropped, no charges were filed and the players were reinstated, but there was an internal investigation with the student code of conduct still pending.

There is no indication at this time that this latest suspension has anything to do with the previous case.

Our sister station in Minneapolis says the attorney for the players will file an appeal on their behalf.
