GiGi’s Playhouse Celebrates World Down Syndrome Day
The goal of World Down Syndrome Day is to spread acceptance, kindness and generosity for those with the disorder throughout the community
FARGO, N.D. — It’s World Down Syndrome Day and parents, families and others are celebrating.
GiGi’s Playhouse in Fargo held its 2nd Annual Balloon Release to celebrate that extra 21st chromosome in those with Down syndrome.
Following the balloon release, there were refreshments and playhouse tours.
The goal of World Down Syndrome Day is to spread acceptance, kindness and generosity for those with the disorder throughout the community.
“Well, it’s important to our community because we want that acceptance and awareness to be out there,” said Volunteer Parent Tonya Ossberwer. “It just gives more acceptance and kind of breaks down those barriers and stereotypes for our surrounding areas.”
They also encouraged people to wear crazy socks to show support.
Gigi’s Playhouse is North Dakota’s first and only Down Syndrome achievement center.
