Bison Focusing on Depth as Spring Practice Begins

NDSU returns 16 starters on offense and defense.

FARGO, N.D. — NDSU football began its spring football practice at Dacotah Field inside the dome on Wednesday. The Bison return 16 starters on offense and defense from last season’s team which made it to the FCS semifinals. One starter knows how much work it takes to get back to a FCS title game.

“We weren’t the best team in FCS football last year,” Quarterback Easton Stick said. “That’s where we want to be, and that’s the standard of this program and where we want to get back to. But, it’s a process. You can’t come out here day one in March and figure it out. So, we’ll just go to work, and it’ll put us in a good place.”

The Bison want depth on both sides of the ball.

“We’ve always talked about in the past building depth,” Linebacker Matt Plank said. “I mean, that’s something all the coaches have talked about before. I think it’ll be big for young guys to step up and take snaps off the older guys who need time to rest.”

The NDSU spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 22.
