NDSU’s Plankers is ‘Beat Up,’ Participates in Pro Day Anyway

FARGO, N.D. — Many former Bison have dreamed of continuing their football careers after hanging up the green and gold, but the wear-and-tear of a football season can get to some players.

Jack Plankers was one of those players who suffered from the physicality of a long football season, leaving him unsure if he wanted to hang up his football cleats for good.

But, the offensive lineman decided to hold off on retirement and participate in Wednesday’s Pro Day, and he is happy that he did.

“It’s a dream of every football player coming up through middle school, even a Pop-Warner-type league and say ‘oh I’m going to play in the NFL,'” Plankers said. “Toward the end of my college career I was a little beat up. I was a little this and a little that and getting a little tired of it. I was like ‘you know what I’m just going to be done at the end of the season.’ but you only get one opportunity to give it a shot.”

Plankers is one of three former NDSU offensive linemen to participate in Pro Day, joining Zack Johnson and Landon Lechler.
